mug of the day . . .

Richard bought me another new coffee mug . . . I so like this one.
I don't know what it is with me and coffee mugs.  I am going to need more shelves soon.  I have an old dresser and also an old hutch that would be great to use for a coffee station.  I just need to paint one of them and rearrange a little bit.  "If you give your wife a new coffee mug . . . "

Good Morning . . .

Outside my window . . . Sun is coming up – I am at work way too early.

I am thinking . . .  that it will be another busy day at work . . . but I like busy days.

I am thankful for . . . my job.  Starting a new school year – I work with an amazing group of people who make coming to work a pleasure.

From the kitchen . . . it’s 6:30 AM – coffee

I am wearing . . .  a new coral top – one of my favorite colors when it comes to clothes.

I am creating . . .  a Halloween cross stitch (that I really need to finish) – and I cut out two dolls.

I am going . . .  to have a great day . . . and get a lot done!

I am reading . . .  Why Time Begins on Opening Day – Thomas Boswell

I am hoping . . .  to have lunch with Richard today.

I am hearing . . .  nothing – I love the quiet at work before everyone shows up.

Around the house . . .  (the office) – completely quiet . . . and so much work to do. J

One of my favorite things . . .  my PINK coffee mug

A few plans for the rest of the week . . .  I really need to get some projects going at home.  This time of year I get so busy at work – the fun creative stuff gets put aside.

Cup of the Day . . .

First cold, rainy day of the year - coffee tastes a little better this morning because of it. How I love rainy days! Richard called this morning and found some good recipes for grilled cheese sandwiches with artichokes hearts and gouda - another one with provolone cheese. So it looks like soup and sandwiches tonight - perfect for this weather.
Of course I would rather be home than at work - but I seem to feel that way everyday lately.

The past few years have been somewhat challenging for me - and work was sort of my happy place where I had control of things. This past year has been life changing . . . and things have gotten so much better. I still realize that I don't have control of everything and definitely not what other people do or the choices they make. I only have control over myself - and how I react to things. I have had so many "Aha moments" this past year - I've lost count of them. The result is a much happier me - although now work is not my only happy place and I think I would much rather be at home on this rainy day . . . October doodles . . .

. . . and Halloween faces everywhere I look.

Ooola

This was on my desk when I got to work this morning - a birthday gift from the wonderful girls I work with. There was also something special inside - but I haven't taken a picture of that yet.
"Ooola" started as sort of joke with some friends at work. Marcia had a cold and I made a comment that I hoped I didn't catch it - she sort of waved her hands around me and made a joke that I was protected. I thought it was funny and we repeated the gesture for a couple of days with others for whatever reason. A few days later I started calling it "Ooola" - but it has since come to mean a lot of different things. If someone is upset or sad - we comment they need some ooola.. If someone is in a great mood and being silly - they are full of ooola. A fun flashy ring or rhinestone t-shirt for example would be considered to have ooola. - Just a fun word I made up to cover all the kind . . . caring . . . happy . . . fun . . . silly . . . thoughtful things we all share. It even caught on with the my boss. He has a beautiful salt water aquarium in his office - the day he added some purple fish - he referred to them as ooola fish. We have a lot of fun with it. Just a silly word - but it has a lot of meaning to me. So this wonderful mug from my dear friends means the world to me.

Morning Mug

Kasey asked me to make her a black scarf. This is not a very good picture of it - and even though it is very simple - it is cute. Long and skinny with a scalloped edge. The pattern is out of this book. It is something you can make up in one night - perfect this time of year when I am so busy. I truly enjoyed this hot cup of coffee this morning - (and I apologize to you Amy before I say this) - because it was so cold.

Flashback Friday - Smiley Suprise

Richard makes me a bowl of oatmeal everyday to take to work. It is part of our morning routine I guess. I get in the shower - he gets the paper and makes coffee and oatmeal - I iron clothes - he gets in the shower. . . The same routine most mornings. Today when I got to work and opened up my oatmeal to stir the cinnamon - I got this. This is the part of my husband that I love so much after 27 years. It made my day!
Flashback - but not very far back - just to last year.
Last year Sadie was a ladybug. This was before kids rang the bell for Trick or Treat. She must have known something was up. I will have to take pictures of her tonight wearing her bee costume.
