photo challenge 1/5/16 . . . "In your bag"

Sometime things in my life are in order . . . other times they are not.  The extra bag that I carry is seldom in order.  It catches whatever . . . coffee mug, vitamins, origami paper, journal, pens, notebooks that I jot stuff down in, chap stick, lip balm, hand gel, peppermints, coloring books, beanies, chargers, hearing aid batteries . . . . at lease that is what we have today.
That's a little better . . . now I just need to throw in my tennis shoes so I can walk tomorrow, maybe some cards that I need to send out, a book, and my iPAD . . .
I never know what I might be in the mood for.

life is good . . .

It is mid October and our temperatures are still in the 90's.  While working in the yard this past weekend I noticed a few leaves that prove that it really is Fall.
I love this time of year . . . even with our warmer than usual weather.  The mornings are cool and quite . . . the evenings are perfect for sitting on the patio and watching a baseball game.
There is no month quite like October!

Saturday . . .

Richard found this idea online and wanted to try it.  He simply unrolled the packaged cinnamon rolls - then rerolled them after putting in a slice of bacon . . . then bake according to the directions on the cinnamon roll package.  They actually were pretty good - but we talked about if we did it again we would fry the bacon a little bit before rolling it into the cinnamon roll . . . it would then be a little crispier.  They tasted great though . . . especially with the eggs on top.

We were downtown again today . . . walking through antique stores.  I'm not sure why we decided to do that - but ended up down there.  I always like Raggedys . . . although this one looks sort of like a zombie - I guess I should like that too.  :)

I saw tons of cute things . . . but didn't end up buying anything.  We were looking for some old wood tennis racquets, but didn't see any - Richard has an idea for a Christmas gift he wants to make for a friend . . . we will have to keep looking.

Just Stuff . . .

I moved the cranes that I have strung . . . had to take a picture because I like how they look all together with the beads.  I cannot get enough of these origami birds . . .
Sometimes things just catch my eye . . . this morning it was my coffee cup next to the pompoms that I made.  Cherish the journey . . . . good advice.
Jake may be right when he calls me a horder.  :)  I keep paper bags, pieces of tissue paper, old books . . .
. . . more paper bags, cards, tags, pictures and words that I cut out of magazines . . . anything I might use in a journal, but when I clean and organize like I did this weekend and realize the amount of stuff I have in my craft room . . . maybe Jake is right. :)  In my defense . . . it is usually very organized and how can I not keep a bag that says "Life is a Special Occasion" or "Your Planet" (I may have to make Richard a card out of that one.)  I can make a real mess when I am working on something, but for now it is back in order . . . which motivates me to get creative . . . and make a new mess I suppose.
We bought this apothecary cabinet a few years ago and it holds all of my rubber stamps, paper, stickers, bags, and whatever other scraps that I keep for one reason or another.  Looking at this - it would make a good place for a Day of the Dead alter.  :)
The top two drawers are divided - so it is perfect for holding rubber stamps (which I don't use that much anymore . . . but keep them anyway.)  The size of the drawers are also perfect for storing the large scrapbook paper and bags.  I know I am not the only one who keeps things that other people would just toss out without giving them a second thought.  What do you keep?  Have a wonderful and creative day!

Old and New . . .

Mom and I found these old notions in a box of stuff that she had.  There is something about old sewing notions that I like.  I am sure it has to do with growing up around women who were always sewing and creating.  I have been flooded with memories of that lately . . . and enjoying those memories along with the items that my mom gave me.
I especially like this little darning silk box.

A new journal I found in Missouri.  It is actually sort of a travel journal and although we don't really travel that often - we do get away enough that I can fill it up with photos and memories.  We are planning a trip to the coast this weekend or next - so that will be a good time to start.
The pages are all so cute!
I also found these on clearance . . . I have been wanting to patch up an old pair of jeans and thought the peace sign would work great.  The charm I will use on a doll.  As for the skeleton - who the hell knows . . .
I have mentioned before that I have way to many hobbies and not enough time.  I find myself buying things like this - but it may be ages before I use it . . . either for scrapbooking or I thought I could use the little tennis balls for my Shabby Charlotte tennis doll - (which I should be working on instead of sitting at the computer).

This and That . . .

Cucumbers from the garden! I am so excited about these. I loved eating the small pickling cucumber out of my dad's garden when I was in Iowa. Last year (my first attempt at a garden) - the cucumbers did not make it. This year I am going to have a lot of them. I am picking them every day - putting them in salads - or just slicing them up to snack on. I may get the hang of this vegetable garden yet.
Another picture that I found this morning on my camera. Lily's pacifier at Brent and Ashley's wedding. I just liked how this looked.

Package from Home

I received a package from my mom yesterday - which is always fun. She thought I should have these raggedy's. Halloween and Raggedy dolls - two of my favorite things!
She also sent these two towels that Grandma made years ago. I have the "Sunday" towel already. I believe these were split up and given to different people after Grandma passed away. So now I have Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday.
I made these little paint chip notebooks yesterday. I found the idea here. I think they are such a fun idea - I want to make them in every color.

Fun Stuff - Czech it out!

Czech out these cute buttons! How could I not get these - especially the czech one - (and for only 50 cents). The little boxes are incense. I have a small burner (shaped like a leaf) - that came with small sticks like these - but after they were used up - I could never find any small incense to use it again. They are lavender and lily. (I had to give Jennifer one of the "Lily" ones - that is what she is naming her baby).
I am making a pennant type banner for Jennifer's baby shower. I cut things out last night and found the letters I wanted yesterday. So hopefully I will have time to make it tonight. I really need more time to do the things I like to do - maybe 6 extra hours a day. - and a room all of my own to do it in. I don't want to sound anxious to have my kids leave the nest - I just want one of their rooms.
This is not a very good picture - but this little stopper/plug/stirrer thing is so cute. It has a mermaid on it. I wanted you to see this Amy. I like the stickers back there better.
It is getting to be that time of year again! I have already gotten three Halloween magazines full of great stuff. These little guys are so adorable. As soon as I am done with Jennifer's baby shower - out come the Halloween stuff.
