what we did last night . . .

Jennifer and Lily were over last night.  We went for a walk, talked, ate chocolate ice cream . . . and they played with my cut out photo props.
I think Jennifer got a bigger kick out of than Lily.

Although - I think Lily could really get into taking pictures with these.  She is of the generation where you take a picture of everything and post it and share it instantly.  She has no problem posing for a picture.
I also took one of the frames that I bought at Goodwill last month - and turned it into a cork board.  I have made one of these before (and the corks fit in perfectly.)  This one I had to move them around and run them different ways until I got them to fit.  Of course I could have cut them like Richard suggested . . . but wasn't feeling motivated to do that much work on it - and once I pin stuff on it - they don't show that much anyway.  I will have to find a place to hang it up . . . (I think I need more walls)  : )
What did you do last night?

Halloween Time . . .

It's that time of year again . . .
Ghosts and Goblins . . .
. . . and things that go bump in the night.
I love getting out my Halloween decorations. They just make me smile.  I love the colors and the whole mood they create.
Silly little things that I have collected over the years.
Grinning Jack O'Lanterns . . . and one eyed monsters . . .
Little bears all dressed up for Trick or Treating . . .
Glittery pumpkins that glow "hello". . .
My new little "no name" doll found a place up on a shelf.

Some cute labels I found at Michael's last year.

Creepy pictures of Lily.
She was jumping on the bed when I snapped these pictures of her with my phone.
I think she looks like she could be a scary ghost in a movie.
Hopefully I will get more decorations up inside and out this week.
The temperatures have finally cooled down some and it feels more like Fall.  I love this time of year!

Smile

I need more coffee today . . . sort of a Monday feeling rather than a Friday feeling.  Do I go for another cup? . . . or do I just push through a couple more hours until I am off work.  I'm sure it is a work thing, and I will get a second wind as soon as I get home and the weekend mood hits me.  There are so many things that I want to do and get done this weekend.  Since I was out of town last weekend - I just need to get caught up.  Rather than do that this week, I decided to clean out a couple of closets . . . which actually creates another kind of mess that I have to deal with this weekend.
Halloween decorations - this is what I want to do.  I actually have a much longer list that I want to do. That doesn't always mean that I get it done.  : )  I guess I will just take it as it comes . . . and do what I can do.
Any plans for the weekend?
SMILE!
Have a great weekend!

So cute . . . they are spooky!

I bought these two dolls this past weekend at Halloween & Vine in Petaluma.  I already posted a picture of this sweet thing made by Kerry Howard Schmidt.  You can find more of her felted creations here . . Paper Moon Gallery
I just love the vintage doll dress that she is wearing.
This is Warren.  I have always loved the dolls that Christy Silacci creates.  I had a hard time deciding which one to buy . . . not really sure why I finally decided on Warren, but I am glad that I did.

love these mushroom boxes . . .

I would not consider myself a hoarder at all -  (although my sons accuse me of being one - because they cannot understand why I keep some of the thing that I do.)  Like these cardboard containers that mushrooms now come in . . . I cannot bring myself to get rid of them for some reason.  (I do put them to use.)  If years from now Luke and Jake clean out my house and find hundreds of these stacked in the garage . . . then they can call me a hoarder.  : )  For now they have to just understand that I think these are great little boxes.
They are great for catching little bits and pieces of stuff to use in my journal.
Origami cranes made from scraps of papers and envelopes need a place to nest.  (I can just see my son Jake's eyes roll as I am typing this . . . why keep the box? . . . why keep the cranes? . . .)  But this is from a young man who has a Wheaties box on a shelf because it has a picture of a baseball player on it.  One man's trash is another man's treasure - right?
I also used one of these recyclable containers to start this calendar.  You write an entry for each day . . . then just move the card to the back and then add a new entry for the next year when the date rolls around again.  If you look close you can see that the entry for yesterday reads . . . Richard in a car accident on his way home from work.   Life is like that sometimes . . . (the truck seems to be in worse shape than Richard - although his back is hurting him this morning.)   Just happy it wasn't more serious.  And happy about my little recyclable boxes . . . hmm - what else can I use them for?

Petaluma

A day filled with a art/craft fair, shopping, eating, and sightseeing has to start out with a good breakfast.  As for me - I just went with and English muffin and a mimosa . . . (I know, not a good breakfast),  but Richard went for the works . . . eggs, spinach, ground beef, cheese,  mushrooms . . . I had a few bites and it was delicious!
Church For Sale . . . this cannot be a good thing.  It made me feel bad.
" . . .  You shall see a... a cow... on the roof of a cotton house, ha. And, oh, so many startlements . . .        ~ Blind Seer, O' Brother Where Art Thou
I couldn't help but think of this quote when we saw this cow.

I ordered one of these . . . It was garnished with celery, a stalk of asparagus, a green bean, 3 jumbo olives, and a lime . . . Way to go Spanky!

This has to be the cutest dog ever!!!  His name is Jack . . . Petaluma seems to be a very dog friendly community.  They were outside restaurants all over the place and you can actually bring them onto the patio/outdoor area of Lagunitas Brewing Co.
This may be the best Italian food I have ever eaten . . .
Volpi's is a family owned restaurant that has been in business since 1925 . . . EXCELLENT!
If you are ever in Petaluma - Volpi's is a must!
I only wish we had not been so tired - and had to head home because in another hour or so there would have been an accordion player.
Another must when visiting Petaluma . . . and part of the reason why Richard so readily agreed to drive four hours to attend a Halloween art/craft fair . . . Lagunitas Brewing Co.
Great atmosphere . . . live music . . . beer samples . . . good food!
Petaluma . . . definitely hope to go back!

Halloween & Vine ~

Just a quick post before I go to bed.  It has been a long weekend of shopping, eating, and tasting beer.  I need to get some sleep - for tomorrow it is back to work.  But I just want to post a couple of pictures from our weekend.
Richard and I drove to Petaluma this weekend to attend the Halloween & Vine Art/Craft show.  I have been wanting to go for a few years.  It was worth the trip - as was Petaluma itself.  This is one of the dolls that I purchased.  I bought another doll and a cute necklace that I still need to take picture of - I will post those and some links to the artists when I get a chance.

The show was smaller than I thought it would be . . . and very crowded.  I spent more time looking and shopping that taking pictures.  I wish I had walked around again and taken some more photos to share.  The booths were wonderful - the show was great - and the people were so nice.  I could have spent a small fortune . . .

recycled cami

I thought this cami would make a cute beanie for Charlotte.
I love the color and lace.  I used the strap from the cami to make the bow.   (wait a minute . . . why did I cut up this beanie?  : )
Unfortunately Charlotte was sleeping last night when I made it . . . so I will have to wait and see how it looks on her.  Hopefully it won't be too tight around her head.   I have a couple of other t-shirts with printing on them that would make cute beanies . . . so if this one is too small - I will try again.
Smile & Have a Great Day!
