November 14th . . . everyday

Today's topic/word is everyday . . .
Coffee - hot, strong, deliciously brewed (by the love of my life) - Coffee
. . . and quotes

"Coffee makes me invincible. But when the cup is empty, I return to mere mortal." ~Terri Guillemets

“Come on, don't you ever stop and smell the coffee?”
~ Justina Chen, North of Beautiful

“Coffee first. Schemes later.”
~ Leanna Renee Hieber, Darker Still
“My coffee gets increasingly better the more I drink and the closer I come to the bottom of the cup, where all the sugar is. I wonder if life is the same way as we approach the end.
”   ~ Jarod Kintz, This Book Has No Title

“I don't know where my ideas come from. I will admit, however, that one key ingredient is caffeine. I get a couple cups of coffee into me and weird things just start to happen.”  ~ Gary Larson

“Sometimes, they just make coffee cups too small.”   ~ Michelle M. Pillow

“The coffee's done? I LOVE IT WHEN THE COFFEE'S DONE!”
~ Craig Benzine

A Cup of Tea . . .

A cup of tea is a cup of peace.
~Soshitsu Sen XV, quoted by Kenneth S. Cohen

. . . and sometimes you need that at the end of the day.

Peace . . .

Today was a good day to skip my walk/run . . . and just spend my lunch in the sunshine.  I folded some paper cranes . . . wrote in my journal . . . and took a few photos.  If there is such a thing as Autumn fever, I have it!
PEACE!
The days may not be so bright and balmy—yet the quiet and melancholy that linger around them is fraught with glory. Over everything connected with autumn there lingers some golden spell—some unseen influence that penetrates the soul with its mysterious power. ~Northern Advocate

November 13th . . . old

I had trouble deciding on what to do for today's topic for -  Sweet November photo challenge.  The word for today is "old".  My house is full of old items - many that are very special to me.  Richard suggested a number of things, but nothing seemed to be what I wanted.  Lily was over last night and showed me her fingernails and as I looked at my hand holding onto hers - I was reminded of when my nephew was around Lily's age . . . and asked my mom why her hands were so old.
My mom still laughs about that . . .
So . . .  even though I do not consider myself old - this was the photo I decided to go with.  It makes me remember my own grandma's hands, it reminds me how quickly time passes and that we need to cherish
every day . . . and it reminds me that I only get to grow old one time.  I am going to enjoy it.

There is no old age.
There is, as there always was, just you.

Lily creates . . .

I have to show off the new bracelet that Lily made for me.  She was so proud of it . . . little girls really are wonderful little creatures!

November 12th . . . black and white

I love black and white composition books . . . I turn them into journals, idea books . . . I fill them with notes, doodles, and whatever is on my mind . . .

November 11th . . . special

“Life is not measured by the breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.”  ~ Hilary Cooper

Sunday . . .

Here's to beer you can't see through and three day weekends!
I intended on staying home and getting some things done today.  Instead . . . we played some tennis, ran some errands, priced some fencing, and looked at some ovens . . . tried this great brew (which I can't remember the name of) . . . and generally had a fun day without getting anything done.  Oh well, some days are like that.

November 10th . . . To-do List

My other to-do list - which includes more practical things to do than this one is so long . . . and not nearly as much fun.  Just a reminder to find joy in the small stuff.

Saturday with Charlotte . . .

We love "Saturday with Charlotte" . . . we took her shopping and had to do a Peace ~ Love ~ Ponytail photo in the parking lot.
That little ponytail held Grandpa's sunglasses when she put them on top of her head.  :)
Hmm . . . do you think we should go to lunch Grandpa?
Of course . . . and Grandpa had to get her some frozen yogurt after lunch.  This little girl will probably be able to get anything she wants from her Grandpa . . . but I am pretty sure that is the way it is supposed to be.
I think we tired her out . . . and we still have to take her to a birthday party.

November 9th . . . Inspiration

What doesn't inspire me?  It seems like everywhere I look I find inspiration and my head is constantly full of ideas . . . things I want to make, things I want to do . . . ways to make a difference.  I am inspired by color, texture, people, words, nature, light, children . . . you name it.
I am inspired by the amazing women I grew up with, by grandmother, my mom, and my aunts.  They had such an influence on who I am and what I like . . . and what I create.  I miss and love them all very much.

I am inspired by God and I am inspired by the people I love . . . I believe in the strength of marriage, family, and friendships.  I am incredibly passionate about this . . .

I am inspired by these amazing little girls . . . There is so much I want to teach them and talk to them about.  I believe I try to be a better person because of them . . . they make me laugh and give me a whole new perspective on life.
PEACE . . . LOVE . . . INSPIRATION

November 8th . . . hand made

These special hand prints are 20 and 25 years old.  They were my Mother's Day gifts when Luke and Jacob were in kindergarten.  They were packed away for awhile after we moved, but now they hang in my craft room . . . which tends to catch all the things that are the most sentimental to me.  I noticed them as I was turning off the light last night and thought they would be perfect for my "handmade" Sweet November post.
I also have these wood hands that Richard cut out after I traced around the boys' hands around the same time.  I like how they look with the Fall colors that I have out . . . and what perfect reminders this time of year of something I am Thankful for . . . my two wonderful sons.

November 7th . . . close up

I could not decide what I was going to do for today's post for
Sweet November.  I love close up photos . . . so I kept mulling things over in my head trying to come up with something.  The idea for my "close up" post came to me last night while Richard was on the kitchen floor, installing security latches on our cabinet doors . . . (to keep dear little Charlotte out of the kitchen cabinets.)  Of course she was right there "helping" him.  I was listening to her jabber, and to him talk to her . . . I heard him say, "Can you get any closer Little One?" . . . and there it was.  I don't know what does my heart more good . . . how much she loves him or how much he loves her.
Grandfathers are for loving and fixing things.

Paper Cranes

Like always when I spot pretty paper in the mail . . . I make origami cranes.  My crane project has been moving a little slow lately - that happens . . . but I am thinking that it may be time for a road trip - that usually helps me get some cranes out there.  Have a wonderful day!
Peace ~ Love ~ Cranes
