kids in a box . . . 30 years later

 I have wanted to recreate this photo for years.  The original was taken I believe in 1989 . . . 

It has always been one of my favorite photos of the four of them.

We had gotten a new tv . . . and of course being kids, they were more excited about playing in the box than watching the tv.

We finally did it!  Richard pieced together a bunch of cardboard . . . the kids recreated their clothes.  They were good sports doing this for me.  I laughed so hard when Sarah walked out in her pink sweats and black patent leather shoes.  Then I laughed again at Jacob's expression when he saw her. 

30 years . . .

They have grown up . . . most of them have become parents themselves.  I have watched them become adults . . . but they will always be my kids.   

celebrating . . .

I tend to take very few pictures at weddings . . . especially when it is someone I love.  I want to enjoy and celebrate.  So I have very few pictures of Sarah and Daniel's wedding, but will share a few that I  do have.  This is Sarah and her Uncle Whitney . . . an emotional dance . . . with Sarah missing her father on her wedding day.  Sarah was such a beautiful bride!

I think everyone had a great time . . . and everyone took home some fun ornaments.  I think we may be doing this again next week.

Better late than never . . . family & shadows

I am behind on the last two days of the Sweet November photo challenge 

. . . . better late than never.  Thursday's prompt was family . . . also the reason I didn't post - I spent the day with my family.  We weren't all together until later in the day - that happens now that my kids are older and have other families to visit.  The earlier part of the day was spent playing tennis, cooking, and simply enjoying the holiday.  I had another photo that I wanted to post for family, but was not able to find it.  After the kids got here we got looking through old photos . . . and found this one.  Jake thinks we should use the refrigerator box and take this photo again . . .

Friday's prompt was shadows . . . of course it is going to be . . .PEACE!

Pastries with Parents . . .

Lily's first school event . . . "Pastries with Parents"

We used to have a "Donuts with Dad" and "Muffins with Mom".  This year they combined it all and just went with "Pastries with Parents".  I think I feel a little sorry for the teachers after they give the students donuts and juice - and then send them off to class.  I know what sugar does to Lily . . . watch out preschool. 

OK - it was called "Pastries with Parents" . . . but Aunt Sarah and Clare Helen were able to participate too.  I absolutely love these girls.  Lily is now the same age that Sarah was when I became her babysitter all those years ago.  Little did I know what a blessing these girls

would turn out to be in my life. 

Lily Bug

There is something about baby shoes that you can't help but love.
And then . . . there is something about this baby that we can't help but love!
She has changed so much in just 5 weeks.
