Happy October!

I'm still around . . . and I'm still making zombie dolls.  :)
This year's theme was Peanuts.  Here is my zombie doll version of Lucy.
I had fun with this one.   What am I saying . . . I have fun making any zombie doll.

I also received a zombie version of Lucy.  The lady I swapped with this time makes
amazing dolls.  My 2 year old grandson was here when I opened
my zombie package . . . his response was, "CREEPY!"
I love creepy.  :)  I also love her shoes.  :)

I've also dressed a few skeletons during the month of October. I am trying to
get back in the habit of taking pictures of them again.

Zombie Doll Swap . . . The Nightmare Before Christmas

The theme for the Zombie Doll swap this Fall was
The Nightmare Before Christmas.  I have always liked Sally - the rag doll from Halloween Town.  She is an ordinary rag doll in Halloween Town . . . kind, honest, and intelligent.  Sally is a bit restless though.  Since she is a Halloween Town rag doll - turning her into a zombie wasn't hard.  She was really  fun to make.

I received my zombie package also.  It is fun waiting for it to arrive,  I have been very busy, and sort of forgot that it was coming.  Which made it even more fun when it was delivered.
Jill did an amazing job with the Nightmare Before Christmas theme.  I will post pictures tomorrow.

I figured it was a good time of year to get back into this blog.  I have struggled in the past making time to post.  I retired this Spring and I am hoping that helps.  I feel like I am busier than when I was working, but it is a different kind of busy.  So I am giving it a go . . .

HAPPY OCTOBER!

pumpkin head doll . . .

I had fun making this one . . . still may add a few details.
Now I want to make more pumpkin heads . . . . in all colors.
When is a monster not a monster . . .
. . . when you love it.

a dreadful little plant . . .

This year Yarnigras is hosting a monthly swap . . . Halloween Year of Enchantment.
February's theme was "Perilous Plants".
This was a fun one.
I came up with a plant nearly impossible to kill.  :)

The Dreadful Undeadlium, commonly known as a zombie plant is an extremely rare plant.  It is a remarkably easy plant to grow and honestly has very few requirements to survive.  It can be placed in full sun or shade.  It will even survive in complete darkness – although it may growl if it gets restless. (Warning: this growling sound can be very unsettling.)  If you do not have a green thumb, this is the plant for you.  It is nearly impossible to kill this plant. (Although over pruning – especially the flowering head will cause the plant to die.)  DO NOT PRUNE!  This plant requires no water or plant food, but it is always hungry and may take a bite out of you if you get too close.  CAUTION: The Dreadful Undeadlium is poisonous – one bite will prove to be fatal.

WARNING:  KEEP PLANTS AND YOUNG OFFSHOOTS AWAY FROM CHILDREN AND PETS.

ENJOY WITH CAUTION

This was so much fun to make . . . I definitely have to make some more.

I'm still around . . .

I'm still around . . . . just not here.  Still not quite willing to give up this blog, but for some reason life seems to always get in the way.  I sometime think that my life should be less busy than it is . . . that is not the case.   So let me post . . . and who knows maybe it will happen again.
I am still making dolls, dressing skeletons, and creating when I can.  This is a zombie cat doll that I made for my cousin Amy.
It is October - my favorite month of the year.  I am decorating for Halloween of course.
I did another zombie doll swap this past month.  I will try to post pictures of that.  The theme this year was Willy Wonka.  I created a Oompa Loompa zombie . . . very fun doll to make.
Happy October!

Tulip Tully . . .

I can now post pictures of Tulip Tully . . . part of a Zombie Doll Swap.
Tully made her way to Louisiana last week . . . and finally arrived.
Lots of pictures . . . because she was a fun doll to make.

One of my favorite things about this doll is her hair.  It is made out of tassels off an old wool rug.
I love reusing old things to create with.

My family is used to me by now . . . but they still look at me weird
when I mix paint that looks like blood.  Yeah - sort of weird, but there a quite a few
women who participate in this swap . . . so I am not alone.  :)

A festival of tulips,

What could be more grand?

A vacation amongst the flowers . . .

. . . then something bit Tully’s hand!

 A twitch . . . a twinge . . .

Then Tully was undead.

As for those pretty tulips?

They all turned a deep blood red.

 Now zombies tend the tulips,

But have fun, don’t be afraid.

Because this festival features . . .

A zombie – tulip parade!

Here's the buzz . . .

I am going to attempt to get back to this blog . . . just as I am trying to get back to doll making.
It seems like it is faster and simpler to post on Instagram or Facebook, but I truly enjoy blogging and following other blogs.  I actually think posting on here keeps me motivated to create.
So, let's see how it goes.

I found these tiny bee buttons . . . and had this idea for "bee hair" and I am loving the "bee hair".

GOOD THINGS TODAY . . .

She is simply cute!

Little Jenny Zombie

She doesn’t even realize
She’s part of Zombieland

She’s not quite sure what happened
But what she would like to ask . . .
Is what happened to her vacation . . .
And why is she wearing a mask?

These weird little dolls just make me laugh . . .

gonna be all right . . .

This is another doll that I started some time ago.
I just need to figure out what I am going to do with her
now that she has this crazy smile stitched on her face.

Never give up on anything that makes you smile.

GOOD THINGS TODAY . . .
Were there any good things today?
There had to be - right?
It doesn't take much to be a "good thing" . . . a cup of coffee,
a smile from someone,  a good book,
finding joy in the every day stuff . . . right?
So, why has today been hard for me?  I do know why . . . and I am stronger than that!

So . . .
Coffee . . . and it tasting better when Richard makes it
Finishing a book - which ended so much better than I thought it would
Walking in the rain . . . even if it was just sprinkling
Working through a rough day . . .
Recording a lip sync video of myself for a project.  LOL  (Bob Marley , Three Little Birds)

"Don't worry, about a thing,
"Cause every little thing is gonna be all right."

just breath . . .

I don't even remember when I started this doll . . . it has been that long ago.
I don't know about you - but when I have a project that stays unfinished for awhile
it seems to get harder and harder for me to just pick it up and finish it.
Then I got where I didn't really like how this doll was turning out.  That made me put off working on her even more.  She isn't my favorite, but I like her.
I especially like her button flowers and her message to "just breath".

Just Breath!
