a dreadful little plant . . .

This year Yarnigras is hosting a monthly swap . . . Halloween Year of Enchantment.
February's theme was "Perilous Plants".
This was a fun one.
I came up with a plant nearly impossible to kill.  :)

The Dreadful Undeadlium, commonly known as a zombie plant is an extremely rare plant.  It is a remarkably easy plant to grow and honestly has very few requirements to survive.  It can be placed in full sun or shade.  It will even survive in complete darkness – although it may growl if it gets restless. (Warning: this growling sound can be very unsettling.)  If you do not have a green thumb, this is the plant for you.  It is nearly impossible to kill this plant. (Although over pruning – especially the flowering head will cause the plant to die.)  DO NOT PRUNE!  This plant requires no water or plant food, but it is always hungry and may take a bite out of you if you get too close.  CAUTION: The Dreadful Undeadlium is poisonous – one bite will prove to be fatal.

WARNING:  KEEP PLANTS AND YOUNG OFFSHOOTS AWAY FROM CHILDREN AND PETS.

ENJOY WITH CAUTION

This was so much fun to make . . . I definitely have to make some more.

lil monster . . .

I love this little monster body.  Now . . . what to do with him . . . or her next?

GOOD THINGS TODAY . . .

Getting my walk in before the sun was up
Planting tomatoes and zucchini with Lily and Avery
Sunflower seeds have sprouted
Ideas for this little monster doll
Avery looking at her "Ampa" . . . and telling him, "You're a little weird."
A husband who cooks when I don't want to -  (delicious pork chops with bleu cheese last night)

just breath . . .

I was all over the place today.  My intention was to work on the pair of jeans
that I started patching, but then decided to send for some specific thread to do that.
That thread will be here on Thursday. (I love Amazon prime!)
Brent called and they could not find the heating pads that I made them - so I moved on to sewing some for them.  They are simple - filled with rice and can be heated in the microwave or put in the freezer to cool.  I took a couple over to Brent and Ashley
. . . then came home and cut out and stitched a few more
Then realized that the rice I use to put in them had dwindled down to almost nothing because Avery had come over to "play with rice" (She loves sensory activities.)
. . . I then worked on a couple of dolls that I  started ages ago.
I watched some online art classes that I signed up for . . .
. . . and tonight I am playing in my art journal
Yesterday my house was clean and pulled together and today there is stuff everywhere.
God how I love a creative mess!

Being home this past couple of weeks has made me realize that I am not quite ready to retire
and that it also would be wonderful to retire.
So for now . . . I am just trying to making the best of a unique situation.

GOOD THINGS TODAY . . .
Sunny and WARM!
Participating in a walk/drive by birthday party
A husband who can make and fix about anything . . . with extra time on his hands.
That same husband . . . making and fixing things.
Praying

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

taking care of myself . . .

I am not sure how any of these are going to turn out.  I guess it doesn't really matter . . .
The important thing is that I started and had some fun!

My mind is currently busy with . . .
. . . journal ideas
. . . doll ideas
. . . wondering who my new boss will be next year.
(I have worked with my current principal for over 20 years.
We find out tomorrow who will be replacing him.)
. . . poems . . . and scriptures . . . and story ideas . . .
. . . and all the things my mind is full of when I am busy being me.

Create a life you love!

coloring . . .

Richard found this wonderful origami  paper that you color.
Now I just want to color and fold cranes . . .
. . . and paint . . . and sew . . . and take pictures . . . and make dolls.
I have a head full of ideas these days . . .  hoping to make it a creative new year!

final ICAD cards . . .

I finished the ICAD 2016 challenge.  I can't say I like all of my cards . . . but it was fun and gave me the creative boost that I like about doing challenges.  I started off following the prompts . . . but I found it easier to keep up if I just played around with whatever came to mind.  An index card a day for 61 days . . . although I think I have 62 cards.  :)
Another hot one here today . . . although instead of 108 it is only supposed to me 102 and in a couple of days we are supposed to back down into the 90's.  As much as I like summer . . . and the heat - I am thinking somewhere cooler for a few days sounds like a good idea.

icad continues . . .

I'm still having fun with index cards . . . it's seems like I am always a day behind, but I also always get myself caught up.
Some of the prompts . . . aqua, space invaders, song, magenta, motel . . .
The last couple of cards I have finished I have done off prompt.
Life has demanded a little more from me than I had anticipated this week . . . life is like that - right?!
So even more reason to take the time to create something . . . time to relax . . .
It is so much simpler than some other options.  LOL!

GOOD THINGS THIS WEEK . . .
1. Watching Charlotte at gymnastics.
2. A visit from my sister-in-law (one of the best people I know.)
3. new paint brushes
4. An amazing sunset
5. A great bottle of wine
6. staying up way too late reading
7. spending time with my mom
8. praying . . . and how it helps
9. a cute new dress
10. honesty

Is it Summer yet?

My days are full and busy, but will be slowing down soon.  I am doing my best to keep up on the "index card a day" challenge.  Some of the prompts from the last few days . . . . top ten list, bowling, compass, island, baseball, and cobalt.  I can't say I am happy with all of them - but having fun just the same.  Things should actually be a little better after today.
Summer time, Summer time . . . it's all most here!

ICAD 2016

I decided to try the ICAD challenge this year. (Index-Card-A Day)
It looks like fun and challenges are always a good way to spark my creativity.
The challenge runs from June 1st thru July 31st . . . that's 61 index cards to create something on.
If you are interested check it our here . . . Daisy Yellow.
It is a busy time of year for me to take on a 61 day challenge, but things will slow down once school is out . . . and this challenge sounds like more fun than a "challenge."
Grab a stack of index cards if the mood strikes you and join in.

painting every day . . .

Whatever you decide to do.
Make sure it makes you happy.

I found these pieces of cardboard last night when I went to put something away in a drawer.  (Who knows why I keep some of the things I do.)  Looking at them I thought they would be perfect just to mess around  with - with some doodles and paint.  I gave them a coat of gesso and now I have a whole stack of little pieces to play and experiment on.  My personality - who I am truly needs to create something every day  . . . whether it be a doll or a doodle or just a little painting on a piece of cardboard.  I also believe that the more I paint . . . I may just find myself painting what I want to paint.  I may just be able to put the ideas in my head on a canvas and have them look the way I want them to.  My goal . . . to paint something (not matter how small) everyday.  I am thinking that can only lead to something good.
Have a wonderful day!
