Mirror, Mirror . . .

Old idea - but so cute . . . I have been wanting to do this for sometime.  We finally got around to taking the tennis racquet's in to have the mirrors cut - then since it was a friend doing it . . . it seemed to take a little longer to get that part done.  So they are finally up.   I love them . . . and even more so because they are made from Richard's old wood racquets.  We saw so many old racquets at the junk fair yesterday . . . I probably should have bought some of them . . . these would make great gifts for some of our friends.

A place to play!

Basically this is just a picture of all of my junk.  Jacob moved out leaving me an empty room . . . finally a place for me to craft and create.  He finished moving Wednesday - and with Thanksgiving on Thursday I didn't really get it as organized as I would have liked before I had to come back to work, but almost!  Richard has to hang a couple of shelves - and I will probably have to move things around a bit before I get it just the way I want it.
Again . . . just junk.  How did I accumulate all of this stuff?  Although, now that it is all in one place - and I can work on something without having to move it out of the way when we eat or have company,  I think I will get more things made.  That is what I am hoping.
Jake left his bed behind - so for now I have that in there, but it is perfect for when Lily spends the night.  I also found a little table to use for her crafting place.  I am thinking we will have a lot of fun in here making things. (I need to get some sort of curtain on that window . . . it looks sort of blah).
Since I spent most of my time getting everything organized . . . I didn't spend as much time on my dolls as I would have liked.  I did get some more little doll bodies coffee stained - so tonight it is time to turn them into fun little dolls . . . and everything I need is right where I can find it.  Plus I uncovered some things I can use that I forgot I had.)
So filling up this room - meant cleaning out a closet and moving things out of the garage.  I threw out and reorganized.  With my personality . . . this was a very good thing!!!!!

Last Weekend

Delicious . . . We tried this recipe this past weekend for breakfast. They were really good. A soft boiled egg - wrapped in bacon . . . then rolled in flour, egg, and finally in crumbs of panko, crushed almonds, and Parmesan cheese. Then we deep friend them until they were golden brown. They were really good . . . will definitely make them again. The weekend also consisted a lot of hard work. We cleaned the carpets and got the spare room in order. We really need new carpet - but this helps for now. I actually think we are going to put wood floors in rather than carpet. Anyway . . . I'm rambling - but I am really excited to have the carpets cleaned and the house in some better order. And this carpet cleaner was the best!!! We are going out of town this weekend for a tennis tournament. I hope to be good about taking pictures - so I have something to post.

Wrong Color -

I painted a wall in my living room last night and I will be painting it again tonight. It doesn't really look bad - but it isn't really the color that I was wanting. All the painting that I have done over the years - I think this is the first time that I have decided to repaint right away. So another night of trimming and rolling. Thank God it is only one wall. If I like this second color - "liquid jade" - I will post a picture.

Isn't she lovely?

After I painted my chair I noticed all of these sticks next to it. It has been a couple of years since we have a dove nest under our patio - so I was excited when I looked up and saw. . . . .
. . . this. We named her Delila - I always have to name everything. She is so lovely and fun to watch.
She keeps a close eye on Sadie. I will have to keep a close eye on the Sadie and my cats once the eggs hatch and the babies start to venture out.

Another Halloween

Time to store away all my pumpkins and spooks until next year.
When witches go riding, and black cats are seen, the moon laughs and whispers,‘tis near Halloween.~Author Unknown

Little Black Bags

I love small black bags. My collection is small - but growing. The one in the middle here is one I found a few weeks ago in an antique store. The clasp is a round cluster of rhinestones. They have always caught my eye for some reason - for as long as I can remember. I often wonder when I find one that I like - what the history is behind it - who it may have belonged to. I think that is one of the main reasons that I like antiques or anything for that matter that belonged to someone else before me. There is a history to them - and although I do not know what what that history is - it is connected to those items. Something about a bag that I like may have been the same thing that caught the eye of another woman years before me who picked it up, turned it over in her hands, deciding whether or not she was going to purchase it. A small - but a connection to the past.
