Old doodles and a bag . . .

I went into work for a little while today.  These are June doodles that I left behind a few weeks ago.  I completely left work behind me this summer.  Usually I go in and work a little bit from home, but not this summer.  It felt great!  These doodles made me smile and made me realize that going back to work really won't be so bad.  The beginning of the school year is always crazy busy, but I love crazy busy!  In fact, I think I may just be a little too relaxed.  (If that is possible.)
I tie dyed this canvas bag that we got at Farmer's Market back when we tie dyed t-shirts.  I used Aleena's Fabric Glue to glue on the Minnie Mouse and rickrack.  I'm not extremely thrilled with it, but I thought it would be great for groceries . . . unless Charlotte (who is a huge Micky and Minnie fan) decides that she need to play with it.

yesterday's bag check . . .

Yesterday's post today . . .
March Photo Challenge - March 6th - Bag Check
Notebook, journal, pens, origami paper, paper cranes, book, Tylenol, quotes, sewing stuff, make-up bag, small calendar, quotes, little bag of odds and ends stuff . . .
The contents of this bag changes a little depending on what I am working on or doing.  Sometimes you will find a doll, paint, a cribbage board, beads . . .
When we watch tennis on TV . . . I love when they do the players bag checks.  So I am dumping out the contents of my tennis bag as well.
I guess I really don't need that many headbands or dampeners . . .
OK - I do need that many dampeners - they are just fun!
The sunscreen is a must.  I usually have quite a large bottle.  I guess with the weather getting nicer it is time to buy a new one.

all sorts of stuff . . .

Charlotte ready for a walk . . .
She hangs right in there with Grandma . . . I was able to get in three miles.  She jabbers and watches the world go by . . . we stop for water, smiles, and once in awhile to take a picture.
Richard and I went out to play tennis a little later.  Saturday was a day made for tennis . . . or so we thought.

Today I was determined to get something made . . . I bought these fat quarters to use for Shabby Charlotte dolls.  I am hoping to get a few Halloween dolls listed on Etsy this week.  I would have had at least one finished and listed . . . but I got sidetracked quite a bit today.
I worked on a doll . . .
  cross stitched . . .
crocheted . . .
worked on recycled bag that I want to use for my camera . . .

Took some pictures of the necklaces that Abbie is making.  She is just getting started and wants to try to sell them.  These chunky beads are so much fun.

Charlotte loves them!
It has been awhile since the table has been covered with projects . . . maybe Stella misses the crafty project mess as much as I do.   At first she tried to fit her whole body in this box, then settled on this position before she fell asleep among the beads.  I am not sure why I couldn't settle on just one project today . . . but I made some progress on all of them and had a good day . . . a very relaxing day.  Those seem to be happening a little more frequently these days.

t-shirt to bag

Don't be Trashy . . . Recycle!
I couldn't think of a better t-shirt to turn into a bag.  These are so simple to make and so much better to use than plastic bags when you go to the store.  A simple project for a quiet Sunday.  It is still over 100 outside and as much as I love summer and don't really mind our hot weather - today I feel like being inside, watching movies, and doing some simple projects.

Bag for Kasey

I had to stitch up a bag tonight for some "girl stuff" I bought for Kasey - (nail polish, brush, files and those toe things - all pink.) Her favorite color is pink - I love that! I love it when my sons have girlfriends - it gives me a reason to buy all the cute stuff I see. And I love making little gift bags.
This is not a very good pic - and not a great bag - but at least I got something made, no matter how small. Jake was waiting to leave and I wanted to send it with him - so I only had 5 seconds to snap a picture. So this is as good as it gets.

Clothes Pin Bag

I made this clothes pin bag to send to Jennifer's friend in New Zealand. Jennifer saw the one that my mom had made me and mentioned that Marna would like one - because she always hung here clothes out to dry. Adding the buttons really made it cute. I am going to have to make some more of these - it was so simple and after putting the buttons on it - I want to make some in other colors.

"Hippy" Bag

It has taken longer than I expected to get this little bag done. I started it the last day of my vacation and didn't get back to it until later in the week. I finally finished it last night. I used this old fabric because this was sort of a practice bag - I think it turned out great. I don't remember why I bought this tye-dyed fabric in the first place. I have had it for years - the kids made pillow cases out of it once and it has come in handy with some last minute hippy costumes for Halloween. When trying to decide what to sew on the bag I remembered the beaded buttons I had cut off a sweater that I had years ago and the heart on the ring is an old earring. I guess there are some positive things about keeping everything - because they were exactly what I needed for this bag. I really wasn't trying to make a little hippy bag - but I love the way it turned out.

Little Black Bags

I love small black bags. My collection is small - but growing. The one in the middle here is one I found a few weeks ago in an antique store. The clasp is a round cluster of rhinestones. They have always caught my eye for some reason - for as long as I can remember. I often wonder when I find one that I like - what the history is behind it - who it may have belonged to. I think that is one of the main reasons that I like antiques or anything for that matter that belonged to someone else before me. There is a history to them - and although I do not know what what that history is - it is connected to those items. Something about a bag that I like may have been the same thing that caught the eye of another woman years before me who picked it up, turned it over in her hands, deciding whether or not she was going to purchase it. A small - but a connection to the past.
