steve the cat . . .

Steve is sort of an odd cat . . . I appreciate that about him.
He always seems to be there in the middle of the night when I can't sleep.

You will always be lucky if you know
how to make friends with strange cats.

the cat's pajamas . . .

It is so hard to get a picture of this one . . . she never stops moving.
I was snapping pictures of her all night and this is about the only one that is blurry.
Friday night with Avery is the best kind of Friday night.
Dewey does not like his pajamas . . . but he looks so cute!

Deuce . . .

I swear he poses . . . and then just waits for me to get my camera
and snap a few pictures.

Trick or Treat

Once we noticed what a great picture this would make . . . I hoped he wouldn't move as I picked up my phone and moved close enough to take a picture.  He not only didn't move . . . he turned his head a couple different times and actually seemed to pose for me.
So we have decided he can read, he knew this would be a great place to pose for a picture
in October, and he is the greatest cat ever!    :)

three girls and a boy cat . . .

Little girls are full of magic . . .
 . . . and silliness!
They make life pretty special!
Then there is this guy . . . he is around a year old now.  We adopted him back in February.
He has been making us smile and laugh ever since.

lily love . . . and Deuce

It is impossible to keep a straight face
in the presence of one or more kittens.
~ Cynthia E. Varnado
 Love, love, love this girl!
. . . and meet Deuce.
Lily was with me one day after work a couple of weeks ago . . . and it just seemed like a good day to adopt a kitten.
This little guy was found by some police officers at a DUI check point right before Christmas.  The officers named him Deuce, but we tend to call him Dui.  I do believe that Lily would just like to move in with us and hang out with him full time.
It has been years since we have had a kitten in the house.  He is a kitten . . . so of course he is entertaining . . . full of energy (most often in the middle of the night) . . . and adorable.
We find ourselves awake in the middle of the night laughing at him.  Well, I'm laughing . . . Richard does something more like grumbling.  He saves the laughing for the morning.  :)

happy tuesday . . .

I think I am glad the holiday weekend is over . . . even though holiday weekends are fun.
Family, fireworks, homemade pie . . .
This week is going to be full of relaxing, creating, and being good to myself.
HAPPY TUESDAY!

doll bodies and sebastion . . .

What a wonderful weekend, but then weekends are always wonderful
. . . .just because they are weekends.
I wrote doll stories . . . made doll bodies . . . had "rainy day" pizza with Charlotte . . . and champagne with Sarah.  We went to lunch and played cribbage . . . went to dinner with friends . . . worked on projects . . . and watched The Walking Dead.

Stella . . .

Good morning Stella . . . you wild eyed, lovable, mischievous, crazy, bothersome, don't know what we would do without you cat.

hopscotch & roses . . .

Life is full of fun stuff every day.
You just have to take the time to notice . . . and yes, I did jump the hopscotch board.
HAPPY FRIDAY!

Stella

I wish this picture wasn't so dark . . . but she does this all the time so I will keep trying to get a better shot.  This is what Stella does when Luke and Abbie leave the house.  Sometimes she cries . . . but usually just watches them leave.  Stella can drive us all crazy with her antics - but she is the most unique cat we have ever had . . . and she makes me laugh.  Wishing I was home with her today . . . I could use a dose of Stella.

Hello Kitty

Hello Kitty!  There are also Hello Kitty decals on the door handles.  Way cute!
. . . and hello Stella.  This is Stella having a quiet moment.  I know she sleeps - but more often than not she is awake and involved in everything we do.
Luke and Abbie put this sweater on her.  She was not happy at all!  She tried to back out of it and nearly fell of the top of the refrigerator.  This cat is the biggest pain - but the most lovable pain ever.

Friday the 13th . . .

She's not a black cat that will bring you bad luck if she crosses your path . . . she is none other than Stella who will bring you joy and laughter if you can tolerate her personality and antics. I am not a superstitious person - oh I have my own silly things I do that I guess could be considered to be superstitions - but I do not believe in bad luck, or that Friday the 13th is a day to worry about. Any day that is associated with a black cat can't be all bad. So here's to today - and here's to a three day weekend!

out of control!

Stella is out of control. I believe she was watching me the whole time I was putting out my Halloween decorations - waiting for me to hang something up that dangled just enough for her to play with . . . or set something out that had any amount of raffia on it for her to go after. I dumped these little light covers out to keep her occupied. She followed me everywhere - she had to smell or paw every decoration I put out. She is adorable, but her antics are endless . . . and often times come at 4:00 in the morning. I can't help wondering how she is going to react to a Christmas tree with ornaments.

Flashback Friday - no wonder I brought him home!

I was looking at old pictures last night and found this one of Boo. I may have posted it before - but he's cute enough for a second showing if I did. He did grow into those ears and the collar. He was born under one of the portable classrooms at the school I work at - he needed a home and I guess I needed a kitten. He was so little! He grew into an extremely independent cat, but likes to climb into my lap when all is quiet and it is just him and I.

I just realized that it has been 8 years since I brought him home - I am a little amazed at how fast 8 years has gone by. Amy - I think you need to come visit me again. This is what Boo looked like the last time you were here. (No pressure - I just really miss you!)

Simply Saturday -

Another little doll that I am working on. She has been done - but I haven't taken the time to dress her. I cut up an old Raggedy Ann dress to dress her with. Tomorrow I will finish up her dress and put some hair on her.
I would have liked to be sitting on this window sill in the sun myself today. It was a beautiful day! I watched Lily for a few hours - so I took her for a walk and then sat out on the patio and read for awhile. I probably wasn't as relaxed and content as Boo is here - but it felt so good to feel the warmth of the sun.
I have always liked hemp jewelry - so every so often have to make something. My mom gave me these buttons last summer. I especially like the blue one. I have had this flying around for awhile and just never finished it. Why I do that I don't know. Not much of a bracelet really - but I do really like the buttons.
Chewy is such a character - I can't help but smile when I look at him. I swear he poses whenever he see one of us with a camera.

Signs that I am on Vacation . . .

I wore my slippers all day . . .

Boo was inside all day - warm, cozy, and snoozing on the back of the sofa . . .

Sadie followed me everywhere - and found a spot close to me under the desk . . .

Time to do the things I like to do - I baked another butterscotch pie.

Smile

I sat down at the computer this morning with a quilt around my legs to keep me warm. This is Boo's invitations to come cuddle up. He settled in on the floor next to me and he is still there four hours later.

"There is, incidentally, no way of talking about cats that enables one to come off as a sane person." ~ Dan Greenberg

I found this rag doll for $5 - how could I not buy her and give her a place to sit on this old school desk. She sits sort of back out of the way - and I love catching sight of her smile when I walk by her. I attended a workshop yesterday for work and the speaker talked about the power of smiling. How it can change our own mood and the mood of others instantly. I have enough rag dolls in my home to be reminded to smile often enough.
