love . . .

Their reactions to the simple fireworks that we had were priceless.
I have one video of them that I keep watching over and over . . . it makes me laugh every time.
They danced and laughed and attempted to turn cartwheels.
By the end of the day (well past their normal bedtime) . . . they were tired and smelled like chlorine, sunscreen, and root beer floats.
Hugging them goodbye I hugged each of them a little tighter than usual . . . because next year they will be a year older.

summer hair . . .

My summer hair for 2019.  I have a new boss this coming year.  I forgot to tell him that I do this at the end of the school year and it may have caught him off guard . . . or maybe not.   This was a couple of weeks ago . . . it is fading into a fun pink/peachy color.  There was some bright yellow in it that is hard to see in this picture.  I wish I would have added more yellow . . . maybe next time.
Where have I been?  I haven't posted in so long.  Let's see if I can get back to blogging this summer.   Happy Friday!

Summer . . .

Summer means fresh tomatoes from the garden . . . stacks of books to read . . .
. . . and sunglasses.
Life is just better when you are wearing sparkly sunglasses.

enjoyed the weekend . . .

This weekend brought back over 100 degree temperatures.  Getting in the car and seeing the temperature read 122 degrees sort of made me want to just go back in the house, but since I really don't mind the heat . . . we did some fun shopping on Saturday (Halloween stuff is starting to show up in the stores), went to lunch, and enjoyed some reggae music.
The weekend also included some work, some silly Charlotte, and some much needed rest.

freedom and wonder of the weekend

Mission San Juan Bautista

One more stop on our way home.
I have only visited a handful of the California missions.  One day I would like to see them all.
We hadn't planned on stopping and only decided to at the last minute.  I am so glad we did.
I am wishing now that I had taken time to snap a few more pictures.

always finding hearts . . . .

Asilomar Beach . . .

always taking pictures . . .

I think I mentioned that I like to take pictures when we are out wandering.
So many fun things wherever you go . . .

I couldn't help but think of the bookstore in "The Never Ending Story" when I walked past this store.  We would have gone in, but it wasn't open yet and we didn't walk back the same way.  Next time I get to Monterey . . . I need to visit this store.

PEACE ~ LOVE ~ BEER
I am with Richard (aka - Steve) . . . so of course we have to visit a local brewery.
Alvarado Street Brewery . . . their beer was great!

This one was called "The Best Part of Waking Up" . . .
. . . my kind of beer - so dark you can't read what is on the glass.
It was one of the best stout's that I have tasted.
