pink is always a good color

It is not easy painting a 2 year old's finger nails, but we managed to get it done without too much of a mess and not too many smudges.  She was so excited when I told her we were going to paint her nails . . . she is such a girl.  I wish I had gotten a picture of the expression on her face.
Little girls are such magical things!

For today - teensy, weensy spiders . . .

Outside my window . . . nighttime – it's a beautiful night!
I am thinking . . . what a great day it was!
I am thankful for . . . family and friends!
From the kitchen . . . chalupa, jalapeno poppers, pot stickers . . . and more game day munchies.
I am wearing . . . a white t-shirt and gray cut off sweats.
I am creating . . . a Halloween banner and doll bodies.
I am going . . . to definitely sleep in a little in the morning.  I am up way too late.
I am reading . . . Sycamore Row by John Grisham (I haven’t read anything by him in years.)
I am hoping . . . that the Cardinals win tomorrow.
I am hearing . . . not a thing
Around the house . . . Halloween decorations . . . alongside St. Louis Cardinal stuff.  Yeah October!
One of my favorite things . . . staying up late.
A few plans for the rest of the weekend . . . watching the Giants/Cardinal game and the Walking Dead!
From my picture journal . . . spiders

Orange . . .

With Halloween just around the corner . . . I guess everyone thought I needed to get in the holiday spirit.  I came back to work this week and everyone brought me little gifts they found over the weekend.  These two little figurines . . .
This dancing Snoopy . . . it plays a fun tune - (that Charlotte loves.)
. . . and this fun skeleton ring.  So cute . . . why wait until October - I wore it today!
I walked through some antiques stores yesterday and couldn't help but get excited about all the cute Halloween stuff . . . and the color orange.
I've had the color orange on my mind ever since.  :)

I guess maybe I should have had that pink nail painted orange . . .
maybe next time.  :)

random Saturday stuff . . .

I am pretty sure I have mentioned in previous posts how much I dislike boring tissue boxes . . . this is just a thing with me.  I will never forget the look on Richard's face when he was going to the store and I told him not to get tissue in an ugly box.  (I love that face . . . when he is completely baffled by how I think).  So when I see a tissue box that I like - well . . . had to buy it and have to post about it.
I saw quite a bit of that face Richard makes while we were playing tennis today . . .
. . . when I stopped hitting to take a picture of this heart shaped leaf that I saw on the court . . .
. . . and when I changed my dampner to match my fingernails.  He isn't quite so sure about my nails . . . but he does like my new dampner.  He also always tries to buy tissue in a box that he thinks I will like.  There is something to be said about a man who does things like that for you . . . just because he knows you like it.

It's SUMMER!

The last week of school is so incredibly busy  . . . the days fly  by because there is so much to do, yet I never seem to get enough done.  This may be partially because I have learned that no matter how much there is to do - it is important to also take the time to have fun and enjoy the good stuff.  I have posted several pictures of these wonderful ladies . . . they are simply wonderful.  I have found out that people have changed their routes to work in order to drive by our school.  I can't even count how many shouts and honks they got . . . just while I was out taking this picture.  I am wondering what they have in store for the first day of school?
I have seen so many cute cookies and cupcakes lately . . . this is one of my favorites.
I am learning to fold cranes with fingernails . . . or rather to fold them as quickly as I do without fingernails.  I still am not too sure about keeping these nails up . . . not too sure if I even like this design - but I do like the black one.

Take me out to the ball game.  I sometimes miss the days we spent at baseball games when the boys were young . . . the good thing is it starts over.  This little guy loves baseball already . . . that's my kind of kid!
. . . and with the last week of school over and done with . . . and the temperatures hitting 100 this weekend - I declare Summer has officially started!

just for fun . . .

 Simple little things  . . .
I came into work yesterday and found these on my desk.
I got looking at the pages of an old discarded  text book . . . and decided they would make wonderful paper cranes.  So I will now me tearing out pages and cutting paper into squares.
Sharing a cold drink with Richard . . . and taking a few minutes just to relax.  (It has been and exceptionally hectic few weeks for us)
Pretty nails . . .I don't usually do the nail thing,  but I had them done for Jake's wedding and thought it would be fun to keep them up for awhile.  I will get tired of them before too long, but will have fun with them for a little while.
. . . and declaring myself Super Star of the Month!
(We had to park somewhere - right?)

Summer Colors

There is always some small thing that makes me happy and I try to enjoy all the small stuff. Life throws all sorts of things at a person - and the big events and happenings are obvious (both good and bad). But so much of life is made up of small, everyday things that are so often taken for granted. I figure if a person can find some joy and happiness in all of the small everyday stuff - they will spend a lot of time feeling a little happier and overall more positive - which can only help you deal with some of the not so pleasant things that happen.
So I have been taking time to do a pedicure every week and using some of these fun summer colors. Plus they look great sitting out together. My husband just shakes his head when I make him come and look at the nail polish on the shelf and how pretty it looks - but I tell you - finding joy in all the small stuff really works. I even get a smile out of him when I carry on about silly things like lime green toe nails.
