Fresh Cherry Earrings

My neighbor gave us some beautiful cherries - they looked so pretty in the bowl that I almost hated to use them. Luke found a recipe for some cherry crisp. It was great with vanilla ice cream. I may have to look for a cherry tree to plant. I don't really know why he goes along with me when I do stuff like this to him - but he usually does.
Luke made these potato skins. They were delicious!!!!! - better than any restaurant.

Jacob's Field

Unfortunately Jake's team was eliminated from the play-offs on Saturday. So another season is coming to the end. He will be playing ball this summer - but I hate to see this season end. I love watching him play.
Getting ready to steal second.

This picture is so Jake. He is so competitive - but always seems so relaxed and at ease when he plays. His high school coach said about him once - "He can go 0 for 4, - or 4 for 4 - and his expression is the same. He has a lot of self control on the ball field.
Playing 3rd base
This one was taken while they were warming up. This is my favorite picture - because he really seems to be enjoying himself and I love how you see the ball coming to him.

101 degrees calls for Shaved Ice

summer It is supposed to be 101 degrees today - a good day for shaved ice. For the ultimate shaved ice treat - we put a scoop of vanilla ice cream on the bottom. We have quite a few flavors now - grape, root beer, cotton candy, bubble gum, watermelon, banana, cherry, lemon-lime - possibly a few more I can't remember. This is so good when it is this hot. May 20th and 101 degrees - I guess our summer is here - and this heat should warm up the pool enough for me to finally get in. I am looking forward to summer - as always.
Summer is the time when one sheds one's tensions with one's clothes, and the right kind of day is jeweled balm for the battered spirit. A few of those days and you can become drunk with the belief that all's right with the world.-- Ada Louise Huxtable

Blood, Bike, Buttons & Beads

Here's a picture of Jake and KC after giving blood. They both needed less than a point to get an A in their Health class and they were able to earn enough extra credit by giving blood to get their grade up.
I will post more pictures of my new bike soon. It is so pretty. But for now this shows my favorite part. The hula girl decal I think was the deciding factor in Richard choosing this bike. This was my Mother's Day gift and I am so excited! Richard and the boys seemed just as excited to give it to me. Later in the day Brent brought over a basket for it as a mother's day gift. So I am all set to ride it to work - which I did this morning. It is only about a mile to work - and the mornings are not so warm that I will get all sweaty riding that short of a distance. It was a little breezy this morning - but it was great. I changed into my skirt and some other shoes once I got here. I have wanted a bike for some time - it is so pretty!!!!!
I made this bracelet last night out of seed beads and buttons. It was easy and fun to make. Although I am a little worried about how it is going to hold up. I think the pattern would make a neat necklace also.
Another picture of the bracelet I made and today's mug. I even had room in my bike basket for my coffee thermos and my cup. Did I mention how excited I am about my new bike?

Potstickers - yum!

Luke and I love potstickers! Richard and Jake will eat a few of them - although Richard hates the way they smell while we are cooking them. It has gotten to be a feeding frenzy when we make them - especially if Jennifer is over - she loves them too. We also have lumpia tonight that Reno's mom made.

Monday Morning

I cleaned my house like a crazy woman this weekend - rearranging my bedroom and organizing. But I did have some time to get some beads out and make a couple of simple bracelets and a pair of earrings. I hadn't messed with beads in such a long time until last week - I forget how much fun it is.
A friend wanted some earrings in blue and gold to wear to her son's baseball games.

And today's mug. I woke up Saturday morning and this was sitting by the coffee maker. Richard had gotten in for me - I think to cheer me up. (I had had a terrible day on Friday).
My friend Marcia gave me a bracelet that came in this cute little silky bag. It is so fun!

Ooola Earrings

Some earrings that I made for one of the girls at work. For some reason - beading is more of a challenge to me than any of the other things I do - so I tend to stick with simple things. I need Amy around to bead with - maybe that would help.

Game Day - and I'm not there.

The cup of the day has more to do with Jake having a baseball game than it does with matching my clothes -Although it does match my baseball bracelet. I was running a little late this morning - So when Richard handed me this cup - I was out the door with a hot cup of coffee. Now I am waiting to hear how Jake's team did.

Siesta

Jacob always seems to find something to buy at Target - that seems unnecessary at the time - but then turns out to be a great idea. His latest purchase was this $25 hammock. It is nothing fancy - but so relaxing and comfortable. It is the perfect place to take a nap.

Cup of the Day

My family tells me I am OCD - which may be true. One of the things that makes them say this about me (and there is more than one thing) - is that I have a thing about matching. Each day my coffee cup somehow has to coordinate with the outfit that I am wearing that day. (It honestly bothers me if it doesn't.) Richard and the boys think this is weird of course - although Richard does go along with it - by picking out a cup for me on days I am running late. (He would probably deny that.) So this is the cup of the day.
We took Sadie out for a ride.
She obviously was enjoying the day. You have to love those ears!

Trying a Different Color

I dyed my hair a couple weeks ago. I have always wanted to try red hair - but I had gotten so blonde - that Nancy told me if I dyed it red it would probably turn pink. So she dyed it brown with the idea in mind that I could always put highlights back in it if I didn't like it - and if I still wanted to I could go red next time. It turned out sort of red anyway. Not quite the color I was thinking - and it took a little getting used to - but I like it. What I don't like is all the gray as it grows out - but I have to live with that.

The 80's and Togas

This past weekend was a weekend of parties for Jake and KC. Friday night they dressed up for and 80's party. Jake called be after work wondering what he could wear - not much notice - but he doesn't look too bad. His shorts probably could have been shorter.
Saturday they went to a toga party. It was fun getting them ready for this one.
I think they look more Hawaiian. Maybe should have attended a Luau instead.

Birthday Blossoms for Gwen

g I decorated this tin can for my friend Gwen's birthday. What a fun & easy project. I will have to make some more of these. I originally saw them made up for May Baskets. I haven't made May baskets in years - this may have to be a project for this weekend.

Posting Pics of the Pets

Boo is curled up on my lap purring - as I am typing. He mostly is a very independent cat - but also very loveable, and still playful. He was born underneath one of our portable classrooms at work. He was very young when I brought him home which I think made him very attached to us. He does have sort of a cautious, wild streak in him. He was the most adorable kitten.

Crochet Therapy

I am always making beanies for someone. These I am sending to a friend and co-worker that moved to Idaho - for her kids. I got added a pom to the one for her youngest.
These are fun to make.
I actually really like crocheting these - they are easy to make and I have made so many I can do it mindlessly. Crochet Therapy.
I go back to work tomorrow after 10 days off - 10 relaxing days. It is a busy time of year from now until school is out. I really try to put work out of my mind while I am on vacation - and I am sure tomorrow will be a busy day - getting back into the swing of things. I can't say I am looking forward to it - but I guess I am ready.
