2021 Zombie Doll Swap . . .

Meet Mirana Mojito!

The theme for this year's zombie doll swap (hosted by Yarnigras Swapper Spot) was cocktails.

One of the cocktails my swap partner listed was a mojito.

What a fun doll to make . . . and I love how she turned out!

As far as cocktails go . . . MIrana Mojito is one of a kind.

She may have rum, and lime, and mint leaves like other mojitos,
but there is something a little bit strange and wonderful about Mirana. 
Maybe it is the way people look at her – like they are not quite sure
they should risk taking a sip . . . maybe it is her urge to bite back when someone does get brave enough to take a drink . . . or maybe it is the dull throb in her head where some crazy bartender stuck a lime wedge that keeps her always a bit on edge. 
Whatever the reason, Mirana prefers to be a little bit strange. 
She has found when she is true to herself . . . that is when she is the happiest.

Of course I had to take her out for a Mojito . . .

zombie cat . . .

We have a video of my granddaughter Charlotte when she was three years old . . . where she is asking us, "Do you want to be a zombie or a cat?"  We would respond, "a zombie cat."  She would 

shake her head as say no . . . a zombie OR a cat.  We have laughed about this for years.

I found this book on Amazon . . . and finally got around to making a Zombie Cat!

A little morbid . . . maybe.

But I love this cute little zombie cat.

Oh my dear . . . You can be anything you want to be.

Isn't she lovely?

She started out with a lace jumpsuit . . . that just made me laugh.

From there she had to get all dressed up!

After looking at these pictures again . . . I may have to add some sandals.

So let's see where this leads.  Now that I have some ideas 

and gathered some supplies . . . I am excited to get working on this doll.

I joined an art workshop through Tricia Robinson last week.

As always I needed something to spark my creativity.  I get so busy with work and my mom and life in general that a don't take time for me and the things I love to do.

I am out of my comfort zone when it comes to painting . . . but Tricia makes it so much fun.  The point isn't to make it perfect . . . it is to just make it and have fun!  

I had so much fun I signed up for her monthly "God Made Girl".  I have a feeling it is going to be very good for me.  Quite a difference from my zombie/monster dolls . . . but I have a feeling and hope it will all work together eventually.  I found a cute button last night while I was going through some "stuff" . . . and had an idea about a "wonky" monster doll.

 They make me smile!

 I have wanted to recreate this photo for years.  The original was taken I believe in 1989 . . . 

It has always been one of my favorite photos of the four of them.

We had gotten a new tv . . . and of course being kids, they were more excited about playing in the box than watching the tv.

We finally did it!  Richard pieced together a bunch of cardboard . . . the kids recreated their clothes.  They were good sports doing this for me.  I laughed so hard when Sarah walked out in her pink sweats and black patent leather shoes.  Then I laughed again at Jacob's expression when he saw her. 

30 years . . .

They have grown up . . . most of them have become parents themselves.  I have watched them become adults . . . but they will always be my kids.
