good things this week . . .

"Find out where the joy resides, and give
it a voice far beyond singing.
For to miss the joy is to miss all."
~ Robert Louis Stevenson

GOOD THINGS THIS WEEK . . .

1.  Plenty of rain
2. Plenty of sunshine
3. Making dolls with Charlotte
4. Making turmeric tea (I used the recipe here)
5. Eating healthy!
6. Talking to my brother
7. Mornings with Lily
8. Dinner and cribbage with my man . . . (I won!)
9. Looking out my window at work and seeing the mountains
10. Green!

It's been a long week . . . a simple week . . . an "I can't wait for the weekend" type of week.  I guess every week is an "I can't wait for the weekend" type of week, but I think I am feeling that a little more than usual . . . Spring Fever!

photo challenge 1/31/16 . . . self

Just be yourself.
Let people see the real, imperfect, flawed,
quirky, weird, beautiful, and magical person that you are.
My final post for my January Photo Challenge.  It has been fun and gave my creative side the little bit of a kick start that it needed.  I like messing around with photo collages . . . just a simple one of me and some of the things that I like.  Clare, Sis, Mom, Planet, Clare Helen, Amma  . . . whatever name I go by - it's still me.  From baby to nearly 57 years old - it's still me.
I've changed a lot over the years - its' still me.
Sometimes I look in the mirror and wonder where that young person went . . . but it's still me.
I can say I lost myself a few times along the way . . . but not for long.
I have learned that I have to be true to myself . . .
I just have to be me.

yesterday was a great day . . .

My goal for the next few days is to relax and enjoy.  That is easy to do when you are looking out at the ocean and spending time with someone you love.
Yesterday was a great day . . . time to get busy with today!

March photo challenge . . . Lucky

At one point in this game Richard was over 20 points ahead of me.  When it came down to the end - he needed one point to go out . . . I needed two.  I won!
He said I got lucky.  I said I was a better cribbage player . . . so we had to play again.

cribbage and cranes . . .

Cribbage and cranes . . . what a nice relaxing lunch we had this afternoon.  I love sitting at this pizza parlor . . . listening to the jukebox, playing cribbage, and of course I always have some paper with me to fold cranes.  These cranes are actually made out of the wrapping paper samples from the fundraiser  we are having at school.  I made some wrapping paper cranes last year when I noticed the fun samples in the back of the fundraiser catalog.  We just kept feeding the jukebox dollars - and ended up sitting there quite awhile.
We met a young man who stopped at our table and smiled when he saw the cribbage board.  He was probably about nine years old and very proud to tell me that he knew how to play cribbage.  His smile was wonderful.  We met a little girl - seven years old . . . she took an interest in my cranes and we got talking.  She was so cute.  She makes and sells rubber band bracelets to raise money for field trips for special needs kids.  I bought a bracelet and she went home with a couple of my cranes.  An elderly gentleman and his wife stopped by our table and asked about my cranes . . . and to talk about the Elvis songs that I played on the jukebox.  He was a big Elvis fan.
What a great day! I love meeting new people.
The last photo is of a crane made my Manuel.  His father owns this restaurant . . .we have been going there since before he was born.  Both he and his sister now work there - and are such great young people.  They are both folding paper cranes these days . . . and Manuel shared one of his cranes with me.  Something so simple as me sitting there folding paper cranes made for a great day . . . plus I beat Richard at cribbage - 2 out of 3 games.

relax and be silly . . .

When you have one of those days - like today . . take some time to relax and be silly . . . it can't hurt, and sometimes it really helps.
